The Young Authors Head Start Program (YAHSP) is designed to promote young people to explore career opportunities of professional writing. What we are doing to entice the students to participate in this program is to provide them with the opportunity to get their first works published.
In order to motivate these high school students, Elder and Leemaur Publishers is going to provide an assortment of individual scholarships up to $10,000 for the 2006-2007 academic school year.
Aside from the financial benefits that we are offering, the fundamental purpose of this program is to get young authors interested in developing their creative and analytical abilities, all the while, providing them with a medium where their ideas can be expressed and shared on a national level.
Not only will this provide your students with the great satisfaction that they have been selected out of their peer group, but also they will be able to use this as a building block for their future endeavours.
Although a large portion of the Universities selection process is based on academic achievement, the rising level of competition is making it vital for students to have a balance between academic and extra-curricular achievements.
When your students are filling out their next job or university application they will be able to include their involvement in the Young Authors Head Start Program on their resume of achievements. Anything that will give your students a competitive edge will benefit their future, whether it's through a better education or through better employment opportunities.
